| Main instructor bio: 15 years ago I started to practice healing art forms such as qigong, meditation, pranayama, yoga, and pilates in order to heal my body from a serious illness. Practicing qigong was a major breakthrough in the first phases of my recovery which opened my mind to other healing forms such as Yoga. I started teaching qigong in 1998 and moved on to become a certified Yoga teacher. Although I specialize in Therapeutic Yoga and Hatha flow, I also have experience in the practice and teaching of Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Ashtanga Yoga. Because I discovered that Pilates was a terrific complement to my Yoga practice and made my spine and abdominal muscles feel stronger and healthier than ever, I completed Pilates certifications in the mat exercises, standing Pilates as well as the Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels). This training involved a combination of classroom hours, practice, observation and assistant teaching which spanned over a two-year period. This training took place at the Space through the Physical Mind Institute and increased my knowledge of Western anatomy and healthy muscle recruitment patterns. It has also helped me to teach a safer and more informed yoga class as my Pilates teacher training delved deeper into specific treatments for a wide range of illnesses and injuries. For several years now I have also had the honor of being certified through both the Canadian and American Yoga Alliances to instruct and certify other yoga teachers.
